“Mang Bert’s misfortune” is a simple song to the tune of Leron Leron Sinta which narrates the story of a man who met an unfortunate accident while on his motorcycle. Some of its lyrics were based on the said folk song and its popularized parody, One Day, Isang Araw. The moral lesson of the song is that neglecting small safety precautions such as wearing a helmet causes serious injury not only to the victim, but to his family’s financial capacities as well.”
Lyrics:
One day isang araw
I saw nakakita
Si Mang Bert tumilapon
Flying lumilipad
Nabangga ang motor
Sa puno ng mangga
Kapus kapalaran
Naghelmet sana siya
Gumising ka Mang Bert, ikaw ay na-ER
Kawawa si misis wala nang pambayad
Nabagok ang ulo, nabali ang panga
Kung mag-iingat lang
Wala nang trahedya.
